Metropolitan Tech Company (MTC) — a City of Johannesburg entity — has opened applications for its 2026/2027 Graduate Internship Programme. Ten positions are available across a wide range of fields, from IT and Network Support to Finance, HR, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Company Secretariat. The programme runs for up to 18 months and is designed for graduates with no previous formal work experience in their field of study.
MTC is a public sector technology company, meaning the experience you gain here sits at the intersection of tech and government operations — a combination that gives you exposure few private sector internships can match this early in a career.
Who Can Apply
- Graduates with no relevant previous formal employment in their field of study
- Must not have previously benefited from an internship programme
- Between 18 and 35 years of age

Network Support Intern
Qualification: BCom Degree in IT or Operations Management. Familiarity with routing protocols (IPv6, BGP, VLAN, MPLS) and fiber-optic technology is advantageous.
Business Development Intern
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing Management or IT. You will conduct market research, build client profiles and produce analytical reports for the Business Development team.
Management Support Intern
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Communication, Marketing or Public Relations. The role covers marketing coordination, stakeholder engagement, social media management and administrative support.
Risk Management Intern
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Risk Management or Internal Audit. You will assist with risk identification, risk registers, compliance tracking and reporting across departments.
Internal Audit Intern
Qualification: 3-year qualification in Internal Auditing. You will assist with audit planning, testing controls, drafting audit findings and preparing reports for the Chief Audit Executive.
IT Intern
Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or related field. The role covers hardware and software setup, first-level technical support, IT inventory management and assisting the senior IT team.
Company Secretary Intern
Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Public Administration, Corporate Governance or LLB. You will support board and committee meeting administration, minute-taking, filing and compliance monitoring.
Supply Chain Management Intern
Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management or Operations Management. Responsibilities include contract register maintenance, procurement support and supplier performance monitoring.
Finance and Administration Management Intern
Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Commerce, IT or Administration. The role covers accounts payable and receivable, invoice processing, financial reconciliations and audit preparation.
Human Resource Management Intern
Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management. You will assist with recruitment, employee records, leave administration, onboarding and HR reporting.
