Office of the Chief Justice Is Hiring 6 Entry Level Staff Across South Africa — Grade 12 Qualifies

The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) has released six entry-level government positions across multiple provinces. Roles are available in Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg, Kimberley, Randburg and Mmabatho, covering administration, court recording, secretarial support, data capturing and typing. No work experience is required for any of the positions and a Grade 12 certificate is the minimum qualification. Applications close on 3 July 2026.
Working within the judiciary is a distinctive environment. These posts sit inside High Courts and the Land Court, which means your daily work directly supports the administration of justice in South Africa. Administration Clerk: Asset Management
You will coordinate asset management compliance, maintain the asset register, barcode and tag new assets, process payments on the JYP System, conduct physical asset verifications and facilitate the disposal of unserviceable assets. Experience in Asset Management and a driver's licence are advantages.
Administration Clerk: Court Recording (DCRS)
You will operate court recording equipment, capture cases on the CRT machine, record proceedings, manage data backups and attend to playback requests. Strong technical aptitude and good typing skills will serve you well in this role.
Administration Clerk: Court Recording (DCRS)
Same court recording function as above but based in KwaZulu-Natal. You will support pre-recording activities, record court proceedings and provide administrative support as directed by the Court Manager or Registrar.
Secretary
You will manage the diary of the Director: Court Operations, coordinate meetings, draft correspondence, handle travel arrangements and provide full secretarial support. Strong MS Office skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
Data Capturer
You will capture data from court records into databases and spreadsheets, verify and validate data, maintain case files, distribute correspondence to Registrars and collect default judgment applications. Computer literacy and numerical ability are important.
Typist
You will type court orders, judgements and legal documents, compile court rolls and maintain registers. A typing speed of at least 35 words per minute is required. Knowledge of legal terminology and Dictaphone typing is advantageous.
